A Little Bit About Us

Hey that’s us! & we are one crazy bunch!
I’m Zach and I’m married to my high school sweetheart Anna (we actually met and dated in Jr. High but who’s counting). We went our separate ways after high school, but the universe brought us back together 10 years ago! Since then, we’ve built a life together, we bought a house, we got married, we both run small businesses and we have two amazing kids. I’ve been blessed to know Peter since he was only 15 months old, and now I have the joy of doing this parenting thing all over again with our newest addition, little Gwynevere. She joined us last January and just turned one!
Photography started out as a simple hobby, I would spend my free time out in nature taking photos of sunsets, creeks, waterfalls, and anything else beautiful that I came across on my adventure. Eventually my hobby for landscapes turned into a passion for creating portraits and meeting people out in the world and over the last 7 years we have built Oak and Stone into something truly special. We’ve shared wedding days with over 100 couples, we’ve watched couples of two turn into full blown families, we’ve seen babies on their first days of life, and we’ve watched people hug their loved ones close when it mattered the most. We don’t ever take these moments for granted; we are absolutely blessed to have been able to capture these special moments for so many different families.
I say ‘we’ a lot because Oak and Stone is no longer just a one-person operation, it’s honestly the whole family.

My wife Anna picked up a camera only 3 years ago, but you’d never know it when you look at her portfolio, you’d think she’s been shooting her whole life. She is a natural behind the lens and has a special eye for details and artistic angles. Over the past couple of years Anna has been attending tons of sessions with me, second shooting weddings and learning everything she can about photography. This past summer she took a huge leap; she took on the lead photographer role and photographed her first wedding completely on her own while I was handling all of the videography! This coming year Anna will be incorporated into Oak and Stone more and she will also be included as a second photographer standard in most of our packages!
If you ever need a third shooter added to your day Peter is dying to get into the industry LOL. He brings amazing energy, an eye for extreme closeups, and tons of laughs, you know if that is your type of thing.
Sometimes the whole family comes along for our portrait sessions. Anna second shooting, while Peter offers comedic relief and a ramble or two about something related to video games. I’m sure it won’t be long before Gwyn is running right behind us all with her own little camera, I heard some blur is trendy so she will be off to a good start with her portfolio.

Honestly, I couldn’t do it without them. They are my family but they are also my team.
When it’s late at night and there are still galleries to edit, they are there to cheer me on. When I can’t pick the best photo out of 5 or the best tones for an edit they are there to help choose which looks best.
When I don’t know how I am getting out of bed to shoot the third wedding in a triple wedding weekend they are there with words of encouragement like: “get your ass moving, we’ve got vacations we want to take” or “14,000 photos really isn’t a lot to edit” 😂 I’m obviously kidding, they are amazing and are really always there to cheer me on.
Anyone who knows us or has spent any time with our family knows that we are jokesters. We like to mess with each other, banter and crack little jokes, but it is always in good fun!
